Kirin Rising 麒麟革命, Team Lead & Founding Member (2024–Current)
Kirin Rising 麒麟革命 is the only Hakka youth-led kirin dance team in the Americas that hosts free, intergenerational kirin dance workshops for the public. The kirin, or Chinese unicorn, is a legendary creature of cultural significance to Hakka 客家 ("guest family") people. Led by queer, women, and gender diverse youth, the team practices the kirin dance as a living act of cultural continuity to resist erasure and reconnect with Hakka identity. Kirin Rising prioritizes accessibility, multilingual engagement, and intergenerational participation to ensure that underrepresented communities reclaim a sense of belonging and cultural pride.
Act as the team lead who sourced and fundraised for the kirin heads and equipment, solicit and plan engagements, and provides administrative support.
SaveChinatownYVR, Campaign Lead (2016–Current)
Led a high-profile cultural conservation and anti-gentrification campaign in Vancouver’s Chinatown, covered by The Economist, CBC, Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, National Post, and more. Played a key role in mobilizing public opposition to the controversial 105 Keefer condo development, including frequent media appearances and public communiciations, and developing a letter generator that helped citizens feedback more easily submit feedback to the City of Vancouver. After the City reversed its decision on 105 Keefer in 2023, organized weekly summer cultural events, Occupy 105 Keefer, which evolved into the independent non-profit Chinatown Together. Today, SaveChinatownYVR continues as a newsletter and platform for community-led engagement on gentrification and cultural conservation.

Chinatown Seniors Oral History Project, Producer (2024–Current)
Lead the documentation of oral histories of low-income Chinese seniors in Vancouver’s Chinatown, often regarded as the neighbourhood’s “intangible heritage,” yet routinely neglected by museums and archives due to intersecting marginalizations. Oversaw executive production of the film project, including fundraising, assembling the team, and providing project administration.
Chinatown Together, Co-founder & President (2023–2025)
Founded and led Vancouver Chinatown’s grassroots arts and culture organization that resisted gentrification and cultural erasure. In its first year, produced nearly 40 free, multilingual, intergenerational public events, including a Cantonese opera production, Hakka kirin dance revival, a 20th anniversary commemorative lecture by the sculptor of the Chinese Memorial Monument, multiple film screenings and panels of Big Fight in Little Chinatown documentary, Uyghur dance workshop, lion dance and kung fu workshop, community talent show, a winter solstice festival, outdoor film nights, and mini night markets. Built a registered society with an independent board, secured sustainable funding, and established a team of regular contractors to deliver year-round programming. Advanced cultural equity and public advocacy by enabling the first-ever participation of a queer Chinese group in the Chinatown Spring Festival Parade, advocating for the reopening of gated access to Sun Yat-Sen Park, and raising awareness of private control over public space in Vancouver.

Save Our Skyline YVR, Campaign Lead (2017–Current)
Founded and led a public advocacy campaign to protect Vancouver’s mountain views through the city’s view cone policies. Raised awareness of development threats by reframing view cones as an essential yet overlooked urban planning tool. Designed Brews and Views walking tours, where urban planning experts guided citizens through threatened view corridors. While City Council reduced several protections, the campaign successfully reintroduced mountain views and view cone policies into civic discourse, shaping debate and reaffirming their cultural, environmental, and social importance in Vancouver’s planning conversations.

Produced a series of youth-driven cultural events in Chinatown in partnership with hua foundation, Youth Collaborative of Chinatown, and Chinatown Today, with support from the City of Vancouver. Programs included hua foundation’s weekly courtyard market, YCC’s Hot + Noisy Mahjong at Chinatown Memorial Plaza, and Chinatown Today’s large-scale outdoor film night. The series piloted how grassroots cultural programming can activate public spaces, while also establishing a shared community event equipment inventory and exploring long-term shared storage solutions for local organizations. Successfully increased visits and cultural connection with Chinatown.

The Real Fight for Beauty, Campaign Lead (2017)
Led a parody website and satirical campaign critiquing real estate developer Westbank’s Fight for Beauty exhibition, spotlighting the practice of art washing in Vancouver. Held an "alternative tour" of Westbank's exhibition with local artists and gave an alternative tour guide speech. The campaign generated widespread public dialogue, media coverage, and debate on the intersection of art, displacement, and development.

Arts & Culture Policy Council Member, City of Vancouver (2015–2017)
Appointed to advise City Council on arts and culture policy as the youngest member and among the few people of colour on the council. Successfully led research and advocacy that resulted in City Council eventual adopting Cultural Sustainability as the fourth pillar of sustainability. Initiated Indigenous liaison representation on the council and organized the first youth engagement event, enabling emerging cultural leaders to observe council proceedings and connect with committee members.

Initiated and led the campaign opposing the controversial new City of Vancouver logo. Mobilized designers and creative sector workers to sign a collective open letter to the Mayor, sparking a major public debate dubbed #LogoGate. The campaign’s momentum quickly compelled the Mayor's office to reverse the logo decision within a single weekend.

Successfully launched boardLink, a national board-matching program linking emerging leaders with small- to medium-sized arts organizations. Strengthened chapter sustainability by reducing attrition and supporting leadership continuity. Convened and facilitated national in-person strategic planning sessions with chapter leads. Served as a jury member for the prestigious Arnold Edinborough Award, a national recognition for young professionals’ engagement with the arts, awarded to leaders including former Heritage Minister Melanie Joly.
